The 2018 Major League Baseball (MLB) season began in late March, and to celebrate the occasion, the FCA hosted an Opening Day luncheon at Kansas City's National Support Center. The FCA and MLB have maintained a relationship for several years, and multiple MLB players, including the three below, have shared their stories of faith with FCA Magazine.
1. Daniel Murphy - A three-time All-Star second baseman with the Washington Nationals, Murphy owns a career batting average of .299 to go along with 110 home runs and 599 runs batted in. He spoke about his journey to the big leagues and his desire to be a loving and gracious husband and father in a 2017 profile for FCA Magazine.
2. Clayton Kershaw -A three-time National League Cy Young winner, Kershaw is a left-handed pitcher who owns a career win-loss record of 144-66 through 11 seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He detailed his passion for baseball and Christ in an FCA video.
3. Kyle Gibson - A first-round pick of the Minnesota Twins in the 2009 MLB Amateur Draft, Gibson is a right-handed pitcher who has a career record of 45-48 through six seasons in the big league. In his FCA feature story, he spoke of how his relationship with Christ doesn't alter his willingness to win or how he prepares for each start. "I feel like it allows me to do what God has put me here to do--to love others with His love and play baseball," he says.
