The Broncos secured the services of one of its best defensive players on March 14, agreeing to a three-year, $15 million contract extension with inside linebacker Todd Davis. Undrafted out of Sacramento State, Davis signed with the New Orleans Saints in June 2014 but picked up off waivers by the Broncos in November. He played sparingly in his first two seasons with Denver but became an instrumental part of the team's defense in 2016, starting 15 games and recording 107 tackles to go along with one forced fumble and three defended passes.
This past season, Davis registered 82 tackles and one quarterback sack in 14 games. Davis’ return to Denver next season is particularly important as reserve linebacker Corey Nelson previously signed with the Philadelphia Eagles.
